Description

Small Water is one of the Lake District’s remotest tarns, lying at 350m below Mardale Ill Bell and Harter Fell. In this atmospheric painting by Alfred, a sudden cloudburst has filled the feeder becks running into the tarn. The summer storm is blowing north away from Yoke and Ill Bell in Kentmere, leaving the zig-zag track from the tarn rising up to the 640m Nan Bield Pass visible in the middle distance.

Set within a beveled gold frame.
