Description
Crummock Water is about twice the length of Buttermere, but is only slightly greater in width. William has described Crummock Water as 'the place I enjoy more than anywhere else in the world' (WHC - Mountain Painter, p58) which, is fine praise indeed! The sun-drenched sky is dramatically caught here, literally bursting through a gap between the slopes, as their shapes are mirrored exquisitely in the reflections upon the calm waters.
